When doing good goes bad....

So this morning as we were walking to get our usual coffee to start the day I noticed something I really didn't care for too much.... MY LEGS! hahaha I need to do some toning up! We were chit chatting and it hit me.... I'm going to get a work out AND do something good for the community! I did some research and found out that the Los Cabos Humane Society needed friday evening dog walkers from 5:30 to 7:30! It is the perfect solution!

So i get there and the dogs are just barking and barking and barking wanting to be walked! There was another couple there and the guy was actually wearing an Auburn shirt!! I said War Eagle to him but apparently it was a friend's shirt (I wasn't the only one who had said it to him!!) I take one little dog out who was so sweet! She reminded me sooooooo much of Allie just with a full coat! We walked and walked and walked and finally when we it was time to head back she gave me those sad eyes (which were hard to resist) but there were a lot more dogs that needed to be walked!

Knowing that I have Kodie and Allie and everytime we go for a jog I have them on a double leash, I said "why not get 2 this round!" HUGE MISTAKE! I apparently grabbed one dog (a lab/retriever/?? mix) who was the most wild of the group and another pup who was really tiny and had something terrible happen where she couldn't bend her right hind leg. So I take these two rather challenged dogs and we're off. The energetic retriever mix wanted to run.... so we did.... it wasn't too long after we started off sprinting that I needed to slow it down a bit but he wanted nothing to do with that! We went through the trail and started to turn around when all of a sudden the wild one escaped. Keep in mind.... We are not walking down a street... we are walking down a path that was dug up in the middle of the desert with cacti, wild animals, and other prickly things everywhere! Ok so the dog is loose... I yell for him to stop and to come back but he's wanting NOTHING to do with that.... he's darting through cactus and brush but i can still see him (I'm also dragging this poor other little pooch with me while all of this is going on!!!) Finally we are at an arm and a half length from him and he's peeing on some bush.... I casually stroll over to grab him....... AND HE IS OFF AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! The only problem now is that he had multiple options of which way to go and I have truly lost him. It's then I lose it and start balling and walk back to tell the humane society I have lost one of their animals.... I also had ventured so far out that I really had no idea where I was besides in the middle of the desert.... So I get back to the shelter.... I'm crying and I tell them i lost their dog.... The lady runs to tell another worker and they go out to search.... Well as they get back to the path the couple shows up and they found the dog and actually were looking for me because they thought I fell and got hurt..... I was so happy yet upset and embarassed that I had to leave.... I didn't get any pictures which is another drag because even though the humane society is nice and provides... everyone needs to see why these dogs need to find a home and the humane society needs donations and volunteers.

Even though it was quite a mess, I am going to go back next Friday but I am going to start working out in the mean time so I can handle these dogs!!!!!
